Jerusalem municipality approves new apartments construction

The Jerusalem municipality has approved 20 new apartments for Jews in east Jerusalem. A move that could stir a new diplomatic crisis with the United States. The apartments will be located at the Shepherd Hotel compound in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The news came on Wednesday when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a close-door meeting with United States President Barack Obama in Washington. The talks were in an effort to relieve tensions with the US over Israel's plan for building more houses in east Jerusalem.
